Dear Angela McCown, Director of Victim Services Division,

I have lived in Weatherford, Texas for 18 years and I personally know the Mark and Liz Osina having worked with Coach Mark Osina, his wife Liz and surviving daughter Emily, all at Weatherford College.  What a wonderful family they are, and to have never given up on their daughter Lacey and the other 3 girls killed by this drunk driver in 1998, is an amazing testament to what they have had to endure over the years and how strong they are to keep fighting for justice for their daughter.

I have a daughter who was only 1 year old at the time this accident occurred.  Now she is a daily reminder to me how precious life really is and how fast it can be taken from you in an instant by someone with no regard for others.  My child is now 15 and at the same age of these 4 young girls who went out to rent a movie and never came home, scares me to think that this could happen to her or any of her friends.

Texas has done so much to try to keep drunk drivers off the road and we all know it only takes one bad decision from another person to impact so many lives in just an instant.  No one wants this kind of horrendous crime to affect any other families and I pray that this parole board sees how much pain and suffering these families have gone through since 1998 – a moment that lives on and on everyday for the Osina’s – as they continue to seek some small piece of justice for the loss of these 4 young girls every year his parole comes up.  I know what sacrifices Mark and Liz have made in their own lives and that they have had to relive what this man did to their family every year since that fateful day.   This tragedy has gone on long enough, let the Osina’s rest for awhile – leave this offender in jail to serve out the remainder of his sentence so that he can know what pain they feel everyday that they are away from their loved one.

Sincerely,

Annette Voss
